ASL-to-English interpretation is a process where a certified professional ASL interpreter bridges communication between a deaf or hard of hearing person who uses sign language and a person who speaks English. The ASL interpreter relays what the English-speaking person says using sign language to a person who is deaf or hard of hearing, and speaks in English words when the deaf or hard of hearing person uses sign language.
Sharp Eyed Group offers the ability to connect you with an employee, colleague, student, patient, and/or a client through online video platforms. These sessions can be either live or recorded. Regardless of which online video platform that is being used, our team will provide certified professional ASL-to-English interpreters for your presentations, meetings, classes, and conferences. Sharp Eyed Group is experienced in Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams online platforms
On-site interpretation provides certified professional ASL interpreters for in-person meetings, lectures, consultations, and discussions. All parties will be in the same room or area in-person facing each other. The ASL interpreter will stand right next to or sit close-by the speaker to provide ASL-to-English interpretation for all participants inside the room. It is the most effective interpretation method and especially critical in healthcare and medical settings.
Tactile interpretation allows for a person who is Deafblind to access information through tactile means. An interpreter will stand or sit right next to a Deafblind person and use hands to interpret what the speaker or signer says to the person. Any spoken or signed words will be interpreted in tactile sign language to the Deafblind person. Sharp Eyed Group provides certified professional ASL interpreters and Certified Deaf Interpreters (CDI)/Deaf Interpreters (DI) that call for tactile interpreting assignments.
Computer Aided Real-Time Captioning
Computer aided real-time (CART) captioning transcribes spoken information verbatim onto a large screen, or into a computer screen, tablet screen, or smartphone. Captioners use a specialized short-hand machine or cutting-edge speech recognition technology to create an exact text transcription of the speaker’s words. Real-time captioning is widely used in classrooms, teleconferences, meetings, seminars, courtrooms, and lectures when precise transcription is necessary. Real-time captioning can be done either in-person or remotely.
Video Remote Interpretation (VRI)
Video remote interpreting (VRI) is a video communication service that uses remote ASL interpreters and communication devices such as an iPad or a laptop with internet access to interpret between the speaker and the deaf or hard of hearing person who uses sign language. Both signer and speaker are in the same room when using this service. The cost structure for VRI is different than virtual interpretation.
